What it means
MR29 covers the whole impairment field in one line: alcohol or any other substance diminishing the driver's abilities. One Irish code where GB uses two families, DR for drink and DG for drugs. No points on the record; the ban runs, and the code stays 4 years from the date of conviction.
Points and how long it stays
On the licence for 4 years from the date of conviction.
The MR codes are mutual recognition: a driving ban imposed in the Republic of Ireland, given effect on the GB record. Six codes mirror the conduct, MR09 dangerous driving through MR59 the catch-all, but none carries points; the ban is the entry, and it stays for 4 years from the date of conviction. The geography is narrower than older write-ups suggest: on the current list, bans from Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man are recorded as NE99, not under MR. DVLA shows the entries to the driver and to third parties such as insurers and the police, and a ban of 56 days or more means renewing the licence, for a fee, before driving again.

No fixed penalty; impairment bans of this kind arrive by conviction.

The ban was imposed in the Republic of Ireland; at home the same conduct runs through the DR and DG families, and the drink driving and drug driving guides carry the sentencing side.
