TT99 : disqualification under totting-up (12 or more penalty points within 3 years)
Checked 17 July 2026 · How we check our figures
What it means
TT99 is the one code with no offence of its own behind it: it records that the points of other entries reached 12 within 3 years and a totting ban followed. Its clock runs from conviction, unlike the offence-dated entries that fed it, so the record's tidy dates conceal a seam. Anyone reading a licence learns more from this code than from any other, because it says the threshold was crossed and, usually, that the hardship argument either failed or was never made.
Points and how long it stays
On the licence for 4 years from the date of conviction.
The usual route
No ticket produces this code; it is entered by a court alongside a totting disqualification.
If it goes to court
The code marks the ban itself; the 6-month starting point and the hardship argument sit in the totting up and exceptional hardship guides.
